A teacher is alleged to have sexually assaulted a young student and is back behind bars.
Molly Colleen Spears was arrested on February 27, accused of two counts of sexual assault on a child. The new charges related to Spears allegedly having sex with a student in 2023.
Spears had previously been indicted by a Chambers County grand jury and charged with an improper relationship with a student. This was issued on February 8, but Spears was not arrested until February 11 and her lawyer said she surrendered herself to cops.
Spears posted a $50,000 bond and was released on the improper relationship charge. But the two latest charges has a bond set at $200,000 following her arrest by the Mont Belvieu Police Department in Texas, US.
The Mail reported that Mont Belvieu Police said in a media release: “Mont Belvieu PD Detectives, working with Chambers County DA’s Office Investigators, began conducting additional investigation and interviews and on Wednesday February 26, MBPD Detectives obtained two separate felony arrest warrants for 35-year-old Molly Colleen Spears.”
The teacher is accused of engaging in sexual contact and intercourse with a male student when she was a teacher at Barbers Hill High School.
Court records allege she began contact by text message and an online service, NBC News affiliate Click2Houston reported.

A spokesperson for the Barbers Hill Independent School District said: “Molly Spears worked as a high school teacher for Barbers Hill ISD from August 2021 to June 2023. She resigned earlier this month. Per policy, the district will not confirm any internal investigation into any matter.”
Spears had previously been listed as a high school language arts teacher.

Following her first arrest, Spears’ attorney Christopher L Tritico has said: “Ms Spears was first notified of the charges two days ago and we acted immediately to get the bond set up and in place. I cannot speak to why it sat for so dormant for so long. That is a question for the other side of the aisle. Ms. Spears looks forward to having an opportunity to confront the allegations and to finally put this matter behind her.”
